Fleet maintenance for towing & recovery

Maintenance for towing companies: keep every truck ready for the next call.

When a wrecker is down, the call goes to the next company on the list. Cargovate keeps the daily checks, the inspections and the repairs for every truck in one record, so a problem is caught in the yard, not on the shoulder.

The problem

A truck down is a call you can't take

Towing runs on readiness. Winch cables, hooks, hydraulics and brakes wear on every job, and the paperwork usually lives on a clipboard in the cab and in somebody's head. When a defect isn't written down, it isn't fixed; when an inspection date slips, you find out at the roadside.

What you get

Built around the way towing fleets work

Daily truck checks, on a phone or the yard tablet
Drivers do the pre-trip inspection (DVIR) on their own phone, even with no email address (a username and a PIN), or on a shared yard tablet with their badge: brakes, lights, tires, coupling devices and emergency equipment. A defect is reported with a photo and stays open until the repair is signed off.
Inspections and checks that come due on time
The annual inspection, the hydraulics and the winch cable come due by date; oil and brakes by miles or whichever comes first. You see what is due soon and what is overdue for every truck.
A repair record for every truck
Work orders with parts, labor and who did the work — your own mechanic or an outside garage — and the cost per truck and per mile. Every repair stays on the truck's record.
Your vehicles
Wreckers, rollbacks and flatbeds, service pickups and trailers. Type them as you call them — the import recognises the usual names.

Questions

Towing & recovery: common questions

Can my drivers do the pre-trip check without a company email?

Yes. Add the driver with a username, set up their phone once with a QR code, and they sign in with a PIN — no email at all. Or use a shared yard tablet and badges. Either way the check is recorded under their name, and a check made with no signal is saved on the phone and sent when it has signal again.

Does it track the annual DOT inspection?

Yes, as a task that comes due every 365 days for each truck it applies to. The inspection itself is still done by a qualified inspector (49 CFR 396.17); Cargovate keeps the dates and the record.
